Outreach

I love to talk science – especially with people who don’t think about it every day! Additionally, I’m a first generation college student and PhD, and I’d be happy to talk to anyone with questions about applying to college or to PhD programs in the chemistry/life science area. If you’re interested in science outreach for your students, please feel free to reach out here!

Outside the lab, I’ve been involved with a couple of great organizations.

The Seattle chapter of the Association for Women in Science (AWIS) runs a group mentoring program to connect women in STEM entirely through volunteers. I served as a co-chair for this program alongside Dr. Danielle Faivre from 2022-2024. There is more detailed information about the program on the Seattle AWIS website. Please reach out to the current chair at [email protected] for more information if you’d like to join as a mentor, mentee, or organizer!

If you’re interested in mass spectrometry as a career path, I also strongly recommend getting involved with the Females in Mass Spectrometry (FeMS) community. Beginning in September each year, they run an excellent mentorship program that pairs no more than 10 mentees with up to 4 mentors. All the mentors in this program are mass spectrometry professionals spanning industry and academia. I was a mentee for two cycles, and it was an excellent experience!
